Wedding Jams

Honestly I didn't think picking out music to play at a wedding would be difficult, but turns out when it's your own wedding it is quite difficult. Choosing tunes for walking up and down the isle, the first dance, mixing and mingling, etc. We're not big top 40 fans (read: not at all), so when it comes to the dance floor, we want music reflective of our taste but not music that will have people scratching their heads. Do you just leave it up to the d.j.?

Mostly I think of the love songs on the soundtrack of our relationship since we started dating.  Here are a a few of my favorites, all will not make the cut.

Am I over analyzing and being crazy about music? Did anyone else have trouble picking out the "important" songs for their wedding day?

The Future of the Ghost

A while back I was invited to take some photos while The Future of the Ghost were doing some studio recording for their album, A Blessing For Your Heart.  It's an incredible album, I find myself humming these tunes on a regular basis.  I was all geared up to crack my knuckles, get out the correction tape, and try my hand at typing my first review-ish/description type thingy, but then I stumbled across this article and figured those interested would be better off reading it instead.  If you read the article, then you know the band has a history of taking a hiatus here and there.  Well, they're currently on hiatus.  But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy them any time you please.  So check out some photos, then listen to a couple of their songs (linked at the bottom of the post).

Summer Shows

The Salt Lake City Twilight Concert Series was recently announced and I'm excited for the great shows they've lined up.  Outdoor concerts in the evening are my FAVORITE, and my ideal, moneydon'tmeanathing outfit for the occasion would look a lot like this...

Thakoon cotton blouse, Swash, Current/Elliott capri jeans, Bertie strappy sandals, Mini handbag, Karen Walker Eyewear 

For the first time in 25 years, the promoters are charging a small fee for attendees.  For someone who has gone free for 10+ years, I'm not complaining.  10 years!  Kinda freakydeaky how time flies...

The Pickpockets

Last Wednesday Kelli and I (aka The Pickpockets) had some extra reasons to be happy. First off, it was Leap Day.  And we're both already married, so neither of us had to worry about utilizing this elusive day for proposing to our beaus.  Furthermore, come Leap Evening, Velour would be the venue for our second show.  The weather decided to celebrate as well, sending down an unseasonable amount of snow.

Though the roads were more than precarious, we made our southern trek with some very dedicated and supportive fans not far behind.  I was nervous, but Velour proved to be an inviting venue. Before I knew it, sound check had happened, the first act had played, and we were on stage ready to go.  The sound at Velour was impressive and the crowd made us feel right at home.  Kelli and I are both crossing our fingers in hopes of being invited back for another show.
