Holy holy, here is the one hundredth post. I will honor the occasion by offering up my interpretation of the top ten percent, my favorite ten posts. According to the new Happy documentary, happiness can be increased by entering 'the zone' often. By writing these posts I've found myself in my own version of 'the zone' many times over. I know there are a few of you out there reading this, thanks for hanging out. And Stacey, thanks for the friendship, partnership, and motivation. Here are ten posts that have made me the happiest, in a random sequence.
A few bits back Kelli, Dave and I went to see Damien Jurado play at Velour. A few bits before that, Kelli and I attempted to get ourselves set up to open for the show. This did not work out for us, but Kelli's dreams of getting on stage with Damien did not end there. She and Dave continually day dreamed about how in a perfect scenario Damien would see some of Kelli's covers of his songs (shot by Dave) and would know she would be in the audience at the Velour show and would want her to sing with him so he would pull her on stage. We joked and fantasized and laid it all out there for the multiverse to muse over.
We arrived at Velour and made our way to the front row, camping out there through the openers until Damien took the stage. We had an incredible vantage point. It was amazing.
The evening happened to be filmed, and an audio-files episode was created. Things didn't necessarily go as day dreamed, but...All I have to say is What are the odds? Or perhaps it would be more powerful in declarative form, What are the odds. I think you just need to see this for yourself. Did you watch it? If not, perhaps you need a bit more motivation. Because, believe it or not and what are the odds and WHAT ARE THE ODDS but this really happened.
Really, you should just watch this. All of it, but especially starting right around the 13:50 mark. Or you can watch the whole thing unedited, I shot this on Kelli's phone.
Oh, man. So excited. A few months ago, and after a few months of major anticipation, Kelli, Dave and I went out to see Damien Jurado perform. It was a night I've thought about sharing on here over and over again. But with all the twists and turns of the evening, I knew I needed to wait until things could be shared appropriately.
Well, it just so happens this magical evening WAS FILMED and will soon be presented for those that weren't in attendance to enjoy (and for those that were in attendance to relive over and over and over and over). I've been saving this craziest, most incredibly unbelievable confluence of intention/coincidence/magical circumstances type of story for when I could share the Audio-Files episode documenting said Damien Jurado evening to be released. But to my delight, a preview has been posted. So the preview I shall share.
Wow, did you watch it? Incredible! As good as this is, it doesn't even allude to the magical moments the evening held. And, did you see me? I'm in there tapping my heart to the beat. I can't wait for the full episode to be aired, and to tell you more and more about this most amazing evening.
